Millennium Atlas

Just a final few words from me regarding the Millennium Atlas project. First the statistics over the five years; West Midland Branch assembled just over 90,000 records, an amazing number covering almost 3000 tetrads (2km squares). There will not be room in the final atlas to thank all the individual recorders, the enclosed list is for recorders from 1999, I would like to thank all the people (members, and non members of BC) for all the records that they sent in over the last five years. My postman thinks he is on holiday now the records have stopped arriving. I would also like to say a big thank you to the members who helped so much with data entry: Steve Harper, Ian Duncan, Jim Chance, Gunter Petters, and also to Richard Southwell for all his efforts (badgering) with co-ordinating the recording in many of the under recorded areas.

All the checking is now complete and the records are now in the national data base awaiting publication in early 2001. Any errors or omissions will unfortunately have to stay now, but I hope these are very few.

One final comment please do not stop recording, Jim Chance still wants your records for this year and future years to update and improve our database for butterflies in the West Midlands.
